Chinese Economic Development Zone Awards Odell, Simms & Associates, Inc. Investment Promotion Contract

Odell, Simms & Associates, Inc. (OSA) announced that it has renewed its contract to provide investment promotion services to the Changshu Economic Development Zone (CEDZ) in Jiangsu Province, China.  As a result, OSA will continue to promote investment opportunities for North American businesses in several manufacturing sectors, including automotive parts, medical devices, chemicals, steel processing, paper, machinery and electronics industries.

As CEDZ’s North American office, OSA provides free and confidential services to companies in these and other sectors seeking to enter the Chinese market by assisting them in their due-diligence process and providing networking opportunities with top-level government officials and relevant companies in the business community.

Changshu Mayor Wang stated “The continuation of this partnership allows OSA to build on the momentum experienced during the first year of the contract.” In the first 12 months alone, over 35 North American companies visited Changshu as a result of introductions made by OSA, of which 4 have selected CEDZ as the location of choice for their state of the art facilities.  An additional 8 companies are in the final site selection stage.  “Thanks to the continued support of OSA, CEDZ remains a strong contender for winning these investment projects” added Mayor Wang.

Changshu is a major transportation hub for the Yangtze River Delta region due to its strategic location only one hour to the west of Shanghai, along the new Riverside Expressway. The Changshu International Port and the southern terminus of the future Sutong Yangtze Bridge are both located within CEDZ.  The zone offers plentiful open land that is available for greenfield investments, as well as single-story workshops which are ready-built and available to investors.  In June 2005, final approval was granted for an Export-Processing Zone, which will also be located within CEDZ.
